Getting set up: the five-step wizard

A new Polaris account opens into a 5-step wizard: Shop, Customer, Product, Bills, Ready. Shop name and phone, then one customer, then one product, then your first bill — and Ready is the completion screen that hands you the finished account. Every step can be skipped, and progress is saved on the server — start on the shop computer, finish on your phone, and the wizard picks up where you left it.

The wizard is deliberately small. It sets up just enough to bill one real customer for one real product, so you see an actual invoice with your shop’s name on it before you enter anything else. The trial runs 14 days and needs no card.

Tax settings live inside the Bills step, and they deserve a minute of thought. If your shelf prices already include GST, mark products as inclusive; if you add tax at the counter, mark them exclusive. This is set per product and can be changed later, but getting it right on day one keeps every later report and the FBR export consistent.

What to have ready

• Your shop name exactly as it should appear on invoices.
• The phone number your customers already know.
• One product and its selling price.
• A decision on GST: prices inclusive, or tax added on top.
• One customer’s name and number, or skip this and bill a walk-in.

What Polaris handles, and what we do with you

The wizard covers one customer and one product. Your full lists — customers, suppliers, and stock — are entered with our team as part of free onboarding. Bring an Excel sheet or the hand-written ledger itself. There are no automatic importers from Tally or QuickBooks yet, so we do that entry manually with you rather than pretend a button exists.

Skipping steps is normal. A wholesaler with 800 products should not type them into a wizard one at a time. Bill one product to see the invoice format, then hand us the full list.
